1/2>> After a long car ride, it is a relief to finally get a first sight of the Lassen peak, even from a distance.
The tent is quickly pitched, so there is enough time for a hike to the acid ponds of Bumpass Hell. The hike actually extends to little lakes on the other side on the pass.

<<2/2 The next day, in the early morning, quick stop at the mirroring waters of the Emerald Lake, time to take a series of shots for a panoramic.
Then it is a surprisingly fast ascension, in the gravels, to the summit.
The top of the peak Lassen offers a nice view of the Devastated Area, which falls straight down to the forests, a few thousand feet under...
